Aware that our purpose, goals and values are primed to contribute to the national quest for a positive change in leadership, policy formulation, and implementation, the ILPI management commits to making the change through the instrumentalities of:

  1. Leadership and civic education dissemination; reorientation to purge leadership and institutional players of pre-conceived inhibitive ideas of the old practice perspectives; capacity building to enhance efficiency and productivity; articulation and dissemination of ideas; recognition and reward through conferment of excellence awards and the ILPI Fellowship (FILPI) on organizations and personalities who have made outstanding impact in their various areas of endeavor; and the organization of conferences, workshops, and symposia.
  2. Promotion of people-focused and transformative policy formulation and implementation, and advocacy for ennobling causes.
  3. Collaborations and partnerships with the organized private sector, local and international development partners and donors, government ministries, departments, and agencies for the benefit of both the masses and the collaborating entities.
  4. Identifying critical but often neglected needs within the larger society and communities, and fostering the necessary policy implementation interfaces between the communities and the relevant policy owners or implementers, such as local and international bodies or government agencies — essentially aimed at helping translate those policies from mere paper-work to concrete policy dividends delivery as originally intended by the formulation for the common good.

The implementation approach

A six-step collaborative engagement

We drive our promotion of service delivery through effective policy implementation by building relationships with experts in various fields on one hand, and relevant government agencies and corporate entities on the other. The partnership entails a six-step process.

  1. Identify the need

The ILPI, through field research, identifies societal/communal areas of need, clearly capturing a statement of the problem on paper.

  2. Find the policy owner

The institute seeks out and liaises with the right ministries, departments, or agencies of government, or corporate organizations with the relevant policy which implementation is designed to provide solution to the identified areas of need.

  3. Cast the vision on paper

As an intellectual organization, the ILPI, backed by in-house research findings, casts a clear-cut vision on paper in the form of a tentative working proposal on how to practically proffer solutions to those areas of need.

  4. Bring in the experts

The institute invites and collaborates or partners with the relevant experts to professionally critique and fine-tune the proposal, rolling out the authoritative copy or copies for submission to the relevant collaborating government agency or corporate organization.

  5. Submit, follow up, defend

ILPI submits and follows up on the proposal, and subsequently liaises with the experts to carry out the Proposal Presentation and Defence when the government agency or corporate entity calls for it.

  6. Deliver and report

Upon approval of the proposal, the ILPI wholly liaises with the collaborating experts to carry out the field service delivery in accordance with the agreed timelines, specifications, terms, and conditions, ultimately wrapping up the process by compiling and submitting well-written copies of Service Delivery Conclusion Report to the collaborating government agency or corporate organization.
